More Avatar Adventures

Ultima VII and Underworld: More Avatar Adventures (ISBN 1-55958-251-0) is a strategy guide written by Caroline Spector and published by Prima Publishing in 1993 as a continuation of Ultima: The Avatar Adventures. It covers Ultima Underworld and Ultima VII (including Forge of Virtue). It is 368 pages long and originally retailed for 19.95USD.

Description[edit]

The style of the walkthroughs for the two games is similar to the style of the preceding book, complete with many additional hints and maps. The only difference from the previous book is that the Avatar now tells the stories to the author's alter ego, instead of the stories being relayed as a journal. Also, due the scope of Ultima VII, the walkthrough skips many elements of the story.

Additionally, the book includes previews to Ultima Underworld II and Ultima VII Part Two and an interview with Paul Neurath and Warren Spector, in which they discuss the creation of Ultima Underworld games, their personal backgrounds and history of Blue Sky Productions/Looking Glass Studios. The preview of Ultima Underworld II is narrated by the authors' alter ego accompanying the Avatar to the celebration and later receiving letters from the Avatar. The Ultima VII Part Two preview is narrated post-game by the ghost of Dupre. Despite these previews, the series was not continued.

Trivia[edit]

  • Rusel DeMaria, co-author of The Avatar Adventures, did not return for this sequel; his alter ego from the earlier book was written out of the narrative as having been a victim of the Fellowship, which he had infiltrated as a spy.
