Utomo is a blacksmith at the Arms of Justice in Yew in Ultima VI.

Description[edit]

Utomo was a strange man who came from an unknown island many days sail from Britannia. Utomo told the Avatar that after an evil man had destroyed his village, he stowed away on a big ship to Britannia. When Utomo escaped to Britannia, he brought with him a pair of magic fans that were capable of changing the direction of the wind. However, some time after his arrival, the pirates under Captain Hawkins had stolen one of the fans, adding it to their treasure.

Utomo told the Avatar the was happy with his new land although he missed his wife Yuna who was a great tree climber. The tavernkeeper Andrea was quite attracted to Utomo, and one time invited him to her place to drink. She tried to kiss him, but Utomo was not pleased, and afterward tried to avoid Andrea.[1]

The Ultima 6 Project[edit]

This is an Ultima 6 Project-related NPC article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima VI or other Ultima games.

In The Ultima 6 Project, Utomo would not give the Avatar any information about magic fans until he got word from his wife, Yuna. Yuna could be found in Buccaneer's Den, and the Avatar could choose to reunite the two lovers by bringing news from her to Utomo. Afterwards, Utomo was willing to provide the hero with information about the artifact.

Runes of Virtue[edit]

In Runes of Virtue, Utomo could be found in a small hut on the Isle of Deeds. He was willing to sell the hero a multitude of different armour and weapons. Ultimately, the blacksmith hoped to sell his wares so that he might afford a pineapple. In Runes of Virtue II, Utomo was back in his shop in Yew, where he was worried about Lady Lenora in her absence, and glad when the mayor was returned to her rightful place.
