Leavell is a ruffian traveling with Robin and Battles. During Ultima VII, he could be found with his companions, stranded in New Magincia.

Description[edit]

Leavell was a philandering drifter who acted as a bodyguard for Robin, sharing in his spoils as he protected the gambler from harm. He had come into such employment after the cardsharp saved him from an angry mob of noblewomen who had discovered his attempt to court them all simultaneously.[1][2]

Working alongside the burly Battles, Leavell had accompanied Robin to Buccaneer's Den, where the group raked in a vulgar amount of money at the House of Games. When the operators of the establishment became wise to the trio's scheme, Leavell was quick to join Robin in fleeing the island, and the gambler and companions boarded the next ship going out to sea. Unfortunately, the vessel sank in a storm before it could reach the mainland, leaving the three rowdies stranded on the beaches of pastoral New Magincia. Here, Robin schemed to seduce the young Constance, and to sell her into sexual slavery to cancel his debts – but the trio lacked a means of transporting themselves, or their intended cargo, back to the pirates' city.[3][4]

Should the Avatar encounter the trio, the hero could offer to ferry the group back to Buccaneer's Den and after gaining Robin's trust, the hero would be informed of Constance's intended fate. Regardless of whether or not the Avatar agreed to participate in the trafficking, however, Robin and his hirelings would eventually attack the hero, and if this transpired Leavell would likely meet his end at the hero's sword.[5]

Trivia[edit]

  • The ship which Leavell and his comrades sailed upon was described as having been newly made and having just sailed from Minoc. Russell will reveal that it was made by Owen and that its design seemed remarkably unsound, giving further testament to the problem of Owen's unwarranted acclaim.[6][7]
